Staircases seemed to be the theme of the day while out shooting with fellow photgrapher and editor of the blog Out of Chicago. My favorites, by far, were the shots of the spiral staircase at the Art Institute, which I never even knew existed until Tuesday. Crazy since I’ve been in the AI many times. A huge thank you to Chris for introducing me to this architectural gem!
So, here are some shots of the spiral staircase along with a few others from the Art Institute. And if you’d like to learn more about the overall architecture of the Art Institute stayed tuned to the Out of Chicago blog for an upcoming post.

Great shots, Angie! I wish that I had done a better job with timing the people in my shots. You make it look easy.
I'm sure you got some great shots, can't wait to see them! Hopefully I wasn't hogging all the space keeping you from getting more shots.
A terrific set of images! I'd certainly like to know where that spiral staircase is located since I certainly didn't managed to come across it the last time I visited. Next time I visit the museum I'll have to hunt it down!
Thanks James! I know, I had no idea this staircase even existed until Tuesday. Chris, the guy I was shooting with, showed me an image on Flickr by John Crouch, you should look him up, his work is awesome and he has an even better shoot of the that staircase.
I'm not really sure what wing this is in but it's in gallery or room 135, we had to ask the security guards where it was. I've been to the Art Institute many times and never even knew this existed. It really is cool. If you get some shots you'll have to share them with me:)
Thanks for the tip on gallery 135! I went to the Art Institute's web site and looked at their map, and sure enough gallery 135 is the place to visit, I think it is in the Asian art wing. I'll definitely have to check it out the next time I visit.
These are amazing photography shots of staircases. Very artistic!
Thank you Andrew!
