Once again it’s been forever since we picked one of our 52 adventure cards. It’s the last week of summer so, before we’re on a rigid back-to-school schedule, I thought we’d make a trip to the Chicago Botanic Gardens.
It’s been years since I’ve been out here and the kids have never been; there are certainly some fun attractions for kids—Butterflies & Blooms and the Model Railroad Garden. My daughter loved the butterflies and seemed to have the magic touch, they couldn’t keep from landing on her! However the railroad garden was a hit with all of us, it’s really fantastic! A fun replica of some of the States attractions: Mount Rushmore, Seattle’s Pike Place Market, San Francisco and the Statue of Liberty to name a few. There’s also a tram which I would recommend if you want to see the entire grounds since the gardens are enormous; 385 acres! It would definitely take all day to walk around the whole thing, which could be nice if you have the time, but with a very curious 2 year old we might be there all week!
Onto the photography! Since I recently sold my macro lens I thought I’d try something a little different with photographing the flowers, so here’s my attempt at some abstract nature photography. It’s always fun to try something different!
