Lately I seem to be drawn to creating architectural images in a very abstract, stark, geometric way. I’ve particularly noticed it with the images from a couple weeks ago of the building at 1611 W Division and the images from Marina City a couple months ago, well, and maybe even Prentice. There are a few similarities, the fair amount of concrete involved in the construction of all of them, other than 1611, or the block-y patterns on the building facades. Whatever it is, it’s been fun creating unique patterns from the larger architectural design.
This week I visited another building that is currently under construction, 235 Van Buren. I first noticed this building when Avery and I took the water taxi to Chinatown a few weeks ago. I don’t often get on the south end of the loop when I’m downtown, not entirely sure why, but it seems I’ve been missing out. 235 is a new office/condo building at the edge of the south loop and has these cool, staggered, cantilevered balconies that seem to be made for some abstract photography.

Right around the corner, just south of the building, I noticed some streetlamps lining up in an interesting way. One was fitting in perfectly with the parking garage on bottom levels of 235 and the other was an older building nearby. I can’t pass up a good streetlamp image when I come across one!

If you read my last post, after photographing around 235, I headed to the John Hancock Observatory for some images of a very foggy lakefront with another photographer friend. When we left here we decided to check out the Sofitel. Another building I’ve been meaning to check out for months, it has such cool angles.

Then we happened to walk by this interesting building…I really should have paid more attention to what it is, because I have no idea what occupies this space, but it’s another great find!

  3. There are multiple pressure sensors within the board so
it is capable of determining your center of balance
and can detect what direction you are leaning in and
how hard. Another downside to digital scales is that they naturally run on batteries,
meaning that eventually the batteries will die and need replacing.
In the least expensive class you have canvases of
    high concentration polymers.
