Shop 'Til You Drop….pick 27 of 52 adventures in Chicago

Seems I’m sticking with that shopping theme…it’s far too cold to be wandering around outside for too long and once again I did a stellar job of picking a blizzardous Chicago day for some photography.
This time the little adventure card had me “shopping” on State Street. Wow, has this street changed since I first moved here in 2000. What was once Marshall Field’s is now Macy’s, Carson Pirie Scott is now Target (so weird to see such an ornate building home to a superstore, even if I do love Target) and a street that used to be filled with discount stores is quickly progressing into the next Mag Mile.
First up….Macy’s! Oh, and for a much more interesting and thorough background on the architectural history of Macy’s check out this post on Out of Chicago written by Wendy Bright with photos by yours truly and Chris Smith. Thanks to both of them for their kindness and allowing me to contribute some of my images to their architectural posts over this last year!
