After far too many years without a visit to New York City I had a chance to take a quick trip there this last weekend. I had the perfect excuse with one of my ‘L’ images being part of a group exhibition through the New York Center for Photographic Art at gallery Site 109 Friday night. So my sister and I headed to NYC for a girls weekend!
It really was a quick trip and we wanted to spend some time eating at great restaurants, wandering around and enjoying the nightlife a little bit so there wasn’t a whole lot of time dedicated to photography. However, the one place I was determined to get to was the Guggenheim Museum. Definitely a favorite building of mine and I was surprised to discover it was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. I probably should have known that already, right?! He’s generally not one of my favorite architects but this building is certainly an exception.
Photographically, I was disappointed to learn photography is only allowed from the main floor atrium and at least two thirds of the interior was off limits due to an installation of a new exhibition. However, even with those restrictions I managed to get a handful of images I’m happy with. Enjoy!
