Yesterday I shared images of the Segal Visitors Center on the Northwestern University campus. Today you get to see the Bienen School of Music. The building was recently completed and, I believe, will be open in its entirety this fall. It was designed by Chicago firm, Goettsch Partners and is perfectly situated along the lakefront.
What an ideal location! Great views of the city and apparently visible from the Galvin Recital Hall (you can see rendering here). I’m so mad I didn’t try to peek inside there while I wandered the atrium. Guess that means I just need to make another trip back there.
In yesterday’s post I mentioned how I typically shoot the details and isolate portions of the building in my images. While that’s certainly true for the images here I also couldn’t help but photograph the building in all its glory and surrounding environment. When Lake Michigan is your backdrop it’s pretty hard to resist sharing that wider view.
While I was there I noticed the Block Museum of Art had an exhibition of Toulouse-Latrec Prints so I made a quick stop in there as well. Great space! Here’s one image of that building.
A few black and white versions…
