To photograph: it is to put on the same line of sight the head, the eye and the heart. -Henri Cartier-Bresson
On occasion I get asked to do interviews and it’s always something fun and exciting, yet nerve-racking. This interview was no different, especially since this was very first issue of new online magazine Photographer’s Soul, created by Kris Vockler.
Kris and I initially met through Google+ and then in person at the Vision Explorer’s photography workshop in Chicago. We’ve stayed in touch over the last couple of years and have a similar sense of what photography means to us. What I love about her new endeavor with this magazine is her attempt to get at the heart of photography. To share her thoughts and the thoughts and images of other photographers about why they photograph and how they see the world around them as opposed to spending so much time talking about the technical and equipment aspects of photography.
I strongly encourage you to read the editor’s note on the site here. A good place to start, then feel free to read the interview with me where Kris asks some great questions about vision, composition and inspiration.
Also, be sure to spread the word about her new site, it’s sure to be one to follow!
