A light post to end the year…never hurts to do a little review and reminisce about some favorites. I hope you like them too!
A favorite from my “The White City” series. This is a smaller replica of the original Statue of the Republic on the grounds where the 1893 World’s Fair took place.
First time I’ve ever seen or, at least, noticed a penumbra. Very cool phenomena, which happened to perfectly “halo” Lake Point Tower.
One of Chicago’s most interesting, newer buildings – El Centro on the NEIU satellite campus designed by JGMA Architects.
This was a tough day of photographing – lots of wandering, low inspiration and then…this great reflection! Sometimes it pays to stick it out and keep looking.
The next best thing to shooting from a helicopter (hoping to do that in 2016!)…shooting from the Aon Center’s 71st floor during Open House Chicago.
The staircase in the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, designed by Josef Paul Kleihues, is one of the best in the city. One of those great architectural locations with many possibilities.
Navy Pier is undergoing an updating. Love the new modern design and couldn’t pass up a chance to photograph the Ferris Wheel without any cars…it was on its way down to make way for a new, bigger wheel!
I have long wanted to create more abstract shots of the Studio Gang designed Aqua building. So glad I got around to it this year!
The new Broad Museum in Los Angeles…can’t wait to visit again to explore the interior which wasn’t complete on this visit.
The amazing vaulted ribbed ceiling of the Milwaukee Art Museum designed by Santiago Calatrava, and a nice addition to my Channeling O’Keeffe series.
The arches in the hallway of the wonderful Milwaukee Art Museum designed by Santiago Calatrava.
Alexander Calder’s signature design and Calder Red. This time in Los Angeles. Loved the contrast of the neutral building with the vivid Calder Red. Plus the two men just behind the windows of the building giving a sense of scale.
A bit of a more commercial type of shot for me. Love this building too – Walt Disney Concert Hall, Los Angeles. Frank Gehry’s designs are unforgettable.
Another more commercial type of shot but I just LOVE that sunburst!
It’s been an exciting year! Loved teaching at the Out of Chicago (OOC) Summer Conference and fall Architecture Photography Seminar, Northwestern University and a few area camera clubs…looking forward to being back at the OOC Conference again next June! I had the opportunity to continue working with some local art consultants and developed a few new relationships in that field. I did my first commercial/product advertising shoot this spring for Stir…so fun! Here’s a favorite images from that collaboration:
Always excited to receive acknowledgement of my work through awards, exhibitions, publications and interviews…this year a 1st place from the ND Awards and Honorable Mentions from the International Photography Awards and Prix de la Photographie Paris. Three local exhibitions and a really special exhibit curated by Rfoto Folio in Arizona. Publications in SHOTS Magazine, Departures Magazine, Your Daily Photograph, National Geographic’s Your Shot and a 500px Editor’s Choice. Plus a couple podcast and online interviews, most recently with Women In Photography and Archisearch. So very grateful for all the support this year!
Oh, and a new website and logo design!
I had a great trip back to Paris for some marketing work based on a collaboration with Le Meridien Etoile…some sad events shook the city while I was there but let’s let this image be a reminder of the strength, good and beauty in the world.
I greatly appreciate your support and the relationships and collaborations with clients over this last year. Wishing you all the very best for 2016!
PEACE | JOY | LOVE
