Early in December I led a private photowalk with a couple friends from the UK and Houston; they sometimes meet up in Chicago and wanted me to share some tips and locations for shooting architecture. Love these small instructional photowalks. Such a great opportunity to share specific tips and locations, making sure things are tailored to the individual. And hopefully they feel like they’re getting exactly what they need in our time together.
One of the locations they requested was the view of the ‘L’ from above the Lake & Wells intersection. I haven’ t photographed here in quite awhile so it was fun to revisit and try to get something different than on previous visits. I managed the shot above and the one you see below. Love the winter light!
Given the time of year and chillier weather, our next stop was the Palmer House. It’s a beautiful space, with a number of amazing spiral staircases. This one in particular is my favorite, and where I got the most shots I liked that morning.
This next one is from the same staircase but I happened to catch this man walking through. Perhaps an addition to my Structure + Soul series!
A little look-down instead of look-up.
Our final stop of the day was Aqua. Always a favorite!
