Day 2 and the next stop on the road trip was Oklahoma City. I didn’t think I’d find too much here but came across a couple interesting sculptural pieces. Today I’ll share some shots of the Devon Lawn Band Shell in Myriad Gardens. The design is by Gensler but is reminiscent of Calatrava with it’s all white sculptural quality.
If you can believe it, I did manage to take one shot that shows the whole thing!!! Granted only one perspective, but it’s a start. We’ll begin with that so you can get an idea of how I broke it down into more detailed and abstract takes.
Now, onto all those details. I arrived pretty early so had nice, soft light. Plus, having sunshine and blue skies against the white structure makes for pretty contrasts and some nice shadow play.
I couldn’t resist doing some, well honestly, all in both color and black & white. So I thought I’d share a mix of the two in today’s post.
I know that was a lot of photos of just one pavilion. And that’s the whittled down set (the opposite color vs BW versions can be found here). Definitely a good find. Soon I’ll share one more stop from Oklahoma City before moving onto a little bit of a detour from my normal subject matter with some abstract nature shots.
