White Sands National Monument

Onto the next round of nature, and mostly nature abstracts; White Sands National Monument. Another location closed due to the shutdown. I was beyond disappointed when I learned it wouldn’t be open as this was one of the stops I was most excited about. We decided to drive by there just to see if there was any way to get in, luckily one of the dunes overtook the fence around the park so a lot of people were walking in. It was pretty busy close to the road but after a 1-2 mile hike into the dunes, there was nobody. Such a better experience with the quiet and lack of a million footprints all over the sand.
Once again I prefer the black and white for the abstracts. But toward the end of the post, I’ll share some wider landscape shots in color. There were incredible blue skies while visiting and the white sand works so well against the vibrant blue.
Enjoy!

Given I only explored a very small portion of this monument, I’d really love to get back here sometime soon. So incredibly beautiful!
