I toured, or more appropriately, photographed, what felt like every museum in DC. The first of which was the National Museum of the American Indian. The museums in DC are really fantastic, many along the National Mall which makes getting from one to another very easy, admission is free and most have really incredible design.
The design of the National Museum of the American Indian is meant to resemble a wind-sculpted rock formation. The materials and form of the exterior certainly evoke this feeling.
Once inside the atrium ceiling is definitely a favorite element of the design. For these shots, I actually prefer the color. The warmth of the lighting and stone add a nice contrast to the colder, modern design.
