the vessel, hudson yards, thomas heatherwick, nyc
One of the latest architectural additions to NYC is the Vessel by Thomas Heatherwick. Part of the new Hudson Yards development and its main attraction, it’s 16 stories and 150 feet high. Consisting of 154 flights of stairs, 2,500 steps, and 80 landings, it can hold up to 1000 people at a time.
Some liken it to the Eiffel Tower…not sure I’m buying into that, lol. And others criticize it as the “stairway to nowhere” or that it looks like a giant shawarma, you know the thing gyro meat spins around on. Whatever your perception, it’s certainly interesting to see, explore and photograph. The copper cladding makes for some nice color contrasts with the neighboring buildings, especially when the blue skies are reflecting in them.

I think my favorite shots actually include people for once 😉
