Still more shots from the Chicago workshop last fall. This one focusing on some fun with intentional camera movement (ICM). I tend to remember to do this for cityscape locations but often forget with the architectural locations, luckily one of our students reminded me 😉
235 Van Buren was the first location I used this effect. Sometimes zooming my lens during a longish exposure, other times just moving the camera up and down, left or right or in a circular motion.

Next at the Lincoln Park Pavilion.

I think I prefer this technique for the more detailed shots in black and white over color, it emphasizes the shapes a bit more. But I’ll let you be the judge.

Now for the one cityscape location I did manage some shots over the weekend. Here, I think, I prefer color. Also, bear with me and my way too many versions from here!

This time I liked both versions equally as well. The black & white take feels a bit spooky.

In this last one, the motion kind of looked like musical notes.

The final location where I used this technique over the weekend, the original staircase at the Musem of Contemporary Art.
