Long on my to-shoot list is The Bean in the snow. Last week we had lots of snow. And, after shooting the new St Regis for a client project I decided to make the short drive over to The Bean. By the time I arrived the little bit of sun we had, had disappeared and the snow was picking up but figured it could make for some interesting shots. I’d still like to get back after a new snow but with the sun out, so hopefully, the weather gods cooperate at some point this winter.
For now, here are a few black & white shots made during Thursday’s blustery snowfall. First up, the view looking north.
A little bit of symmetry and details.

My favorite wider shots of the day.

It’s a bit more difficult getting those abstracted takes with this much snow coming down. Everything just ends up looking blurry and out of focus. But I did think it was interesting the icicles hanging off the bottom of the Bean. Plus, the snow reflecting in the metallic surface and the snow coming down creates some great texture
And, the view looking south.

Because of covid, the Bean is barricaded off so you cant get close. Earlier this year I was happy about that to get some abstracted shots without people. But for something like this, I really wish I could have gotten to the northwestern side of the bean for some better city reflections. Oh well…another year, I suppose. Never bad to have more reasons to revisit locations!

I love every one of these, Angie. I keep telling myself I should get over to Chicago in the snow, but it just seems like a cold idea! lol! Here's my latest winter adventure: https://veronicajunephotography.com/bald-eagles/
This is so breathtaking! I almost feel the crisp cold and that lovely silence when everything is covered with snow. Well done!
