The final workshop of 2022 wrapped a few weeks ago. After spending a rainy few days in NYC due to hurricane Ian leading up to the workshop, I was thrilled we ended up having absolutely perfect weather for our 4 days exploring this incredible city.
Today, I’ll be sharing a few shots from 7 of the 9 students that joined me.
Kathryn Mohrman
This was Kathryn’s first workshop with me. She made the trip from Maryland and is sharing some geometric shots from around the city – Solar Carve, The AIDS Memorial and she’s stumped me with the last location.

Allan Konopka
Another newbie to the workshops, Allan made the long trip from Washington. He has some fantastically vivid shots with hints of subtle shadowplay – The Shed, Fulton Center, and a mix of buildings along the High Line.

Jay Lee
It’s always great when I have returning students, so it was wonderful to see Jay again and see the evolution of his images. He joined me for my first workshop of this year in LA and ended with me in NYC making the trip from the Phoenix area. He’s sharing some interesting patterns at 515 W 29th Street, IAC Building, and 11 Hoyt.

Jackie Moore
Another LA to NYC return student, so fun! So great to see Jackie as well. And lots of West Coasters this time. Jackie’s from the San Francisco area and is also sharing some nice patterned shots in some soft blue hues – The Oculus, 11 Hoyt, The World Trade Center.

Leslie Baker
And, one more LA to NYC student! Leslie is also from the West Coast around the LA area. It was so nice to catch up with her again. She’s sharing images from Hudson Yards – the first two of The Shed and the third from The Vessel. Very dramatic lighting and post-processing with these vivid shots.

Nath Kaplan
This was Nath’s first workshop joining us from New Jersey! Great to have a sort-of local on the workshop. He has a fun mix of locations and vivid processing – 7 Bryant, The Guggenheim, and a fun multiple-exposure, color-altered take on the Oculus.

Garrick Hildebrand
Garrick was also new and flew in from Dallas and is sharing some minimalist takes on The Guggenheim and one location he’s got me stumped on. Great lines and simplicity in his shots.

A huge thanks to all the wonderful participants, both new and returning. It was a really fun group and it was truly a pleasure spending 4 days walking, ubering, and them tolerating my less-than-expert navigation of the NYC subway system to get us to all these fantastic locations.
So much to see in this city. I look forward to, hopefully, seeing them all again in another city and returning to NYC again in a couple of years.
And, I hope you’ve enjoyed their fantastic work. I’ll be back again soon with some of my takes on our stops.
