A few months ago I had the honor of photographing the Amway Grand Hotel exteriors in Grand Rapids, MI for Gensler. The focus of the shoot was the renovations to the curtain wall and the concrete podium.

For obvious reasons, the “sawtooth” area of the facade/curtain wall was a favorite to photograph. Great reflections, geometry, and patterns.

But, let’s start with the podium area.

Some lookups at that sawtooth pattern.

Love how the light catches so differently depending on the time of day.

Always love a good old/new combination in a shot.

Late afternoon into dusk. Again, love how the facade catches the various colors of the sky + how different the patterns can look on this “sawtooth” area just from slight variations in where the camera is placed in orientation to this space.
