I was recently commissioned by architecture firm SmithGroup for an interior project they were working on. They were looking for artwork for a few spaces within a downtown Chicago office, specifically featuring the two Prudential buildings.

They needed two shots – one featuring the sign on the original tower and a second, more abstract, less obvious tribute to both towers.

It’s always fun working on commissions like this; some guidelines, but creative freedom to find interesting compositions.

I shot over 200 photos, and delivered 41 final edits for them to choose from. I know, 200+ shots sounds a little crazy for a final selection of 2, even 41 is a lot. But many shots are working through slight variations on a composition to find the right balance. Plus, trying things that sometimes just don’t work. Also, shooting in a a few different lighting scenarios to see what works best.

Anyway, here’s a look at some of my preferred shots of the 41.
