Pareidolia

The tendency to perceive a specific, often meaningful image in a random or ambiguous visual pattern

Project Statement

Pareidolia: the tendency to perceive a specific, often meaningful image in a random or ambiguous visual pattern.

When looking at architecture and design, we have a tendency to see the whole, missing those details that speak to the essence of the space. With this series, I strive to draw attention to these quiet elements hidden in plain sight.

In addition, each of these images isolates patterns that begin to feel like something else that’s familiar. While I typically perceive something in nature, I invite you to consider what recognizable shape or object you see in these patterns.
