New this year – Mexico City! I had a great visit/scouting trip last year and am so excited to share this city with you. We’ll spend 4 days photographing the historic, modern, and contemporary designs of this great city – museums, castles, cathedrals + more.
The focus will be on creating detailed and abstract interpretations of the city’s built environment.
A few days before we meet in person, we’ll come together for an online presentation with tips on composition. Once the in-person portion wraps, I’ll share a post-processing tutorial with you. You’ll have a couple of weeks to work on your images and then we’ll meet up online once again for a review session of each participant’s work.
PRESENTATION: Thursday, February 15, 7pm CT
REVIEW SESSION: Thursday, March 7, 7pm CT
These are just some of the locations we’ll see. A more detailed itinerary will be sent out a couple of weeks prior to us meeting in-person.
We’ll be walking A LOT (around 4 miles per day)! Please be prepared with good shoes, water, snacks and travel light!
We will be in museums often – MOST REQUIRE BACKPACKS TO BE CHECKED (when I visited last year I did this in every location with no issues and most are free of charge).
I recommend a mid-range zoom around the 24-70mm range + a 70-200mm telephoto (the telephoto will be likely be your most used lens). If you’d like to bring an additional lens, a wide angle, 12-24mm range, may be useful in a couple of locations.
Tripods are not needed, and I recommend not using them. Interior locations won’t allow them and we’ll be shooting during daylight for all locations.
Our meeting and ending point each day will be the hotel – Le Meridien Mexico City
Le Meridien Mexico City, Av. P.º de la Reforma 69, Tabacalera, Cuauhtémoc, 06030 Ciudad de México, CDMX, Mexico – THIS WILL BE OUR MEETING AND ENDING DESTINATION EACH DAY.
