Northwestern University Photowalk

We’ll spend 3 hours exploring the stunning architecture along Evanston’s Northwestern University lakefront campus in this instructional photowalk.

We’ll shoot the Segal Visitor Center, Bienen School of Music, Kellogg School of Management, and Northwestern University Library for a mix of contemporary and brutalist architecture.

I’ll provide examples of how to approach each building while we’re on location, give you a chance to create your own interpretations of each space, + provide feedback while you shoot.

Weekend Highlights

These are just some of the locations we’ll see. A more detailed itinerary will be sent out a couple of weeks prior to us meeting in-person.

Why Attend?

  • Learn to see architecture with clear, actionable tips that you can apply during the photowalk, and come home with portfolio-worthy images.
  • Learn to shoot without complicated settings or techniques so you can improve your images, even if you’ve never shot architecture before.
  • Create amazing images with on-location guidance and feedback and win competitions!
  • Learn in the best conditions without having to worry about logistics.
  • Get inspired by world-class architecture so you can take your images to the next level.
  • Connect with like-minded people and build lasting friendships.

I recommend a mid-range zoom around the 24-70mm range + a 70-200mm telephoto (the telephoto will be likely be your most used lens). If you’d like to bring an additional lens, a wide angle, 12-24mm range, can be fun but not necessary.
